A Healthy NEW Experience at Kennedy Health & Wellness
Kennedy Health & Wellness is one of the most fully equipped, state of the art, high-tech healthcare facilities in southwest Virginia. Our Doctors and staff are continually advancing in the latest training and treatment protocols for a wide variety of conditions and specialties.
Our goal with every patient is that one day they will no longer need frequent trips to the Doctor,
instead learn how to maintain optimal health on their own.
Dr. Pat Kennedy
Being cut from the swim team at age 9 for being chubby and swimming too slow was the best thing that could have ever happen to Dr. Pat. It was the spark that was needed to ignite a passion and determination to go after even the highest of goals with the attitude, “I can rest when I get there.”
Just 10 years later Dr. Pat, representing the USA, competed in the finals of the 1984 Olympics in the 200 meter butterfly. This lesson learned as a young swimmer shaped his entire healthcare career. As a Doctor of Chiropractic since 1990, Dr. Pat’s motto has been to meet his patients, and staff, right where they are and help them to get to where they want to go.
He says, “You are never too far away from any goal that you cannot achieve. I could not have been further away from Olympic history at the time I was cut from the team. If I can do it, so can you!”
When not in the office or teaching Doctors all around the country about the effects of stress on the brain and nervous system, he loves watching the Florida Gators win football games in The Swamp. He also enjoys swimming, jogging, creating unique body resistance exercises, and reading his Bible.
Tracey Bright: Office Manager and Weight Loss Coach
Tracey has been the Office Manager, insurance specialist and weight loss coach of Kennedy Health & Wellness since 2004. She is basically the “heart and soul” of the clinic since she has been involved with the growth and transformation of Kennedy Health & Wellness over so many years. Tracey oversees everything from insurance verification to billing and is our in-house weight loss coach. Tracey does the behind the scenes work tirelessly so the doctors and staff efficiently give 100% of their time and attention to each and every patient.
Prior to joining the staff, her journey began as a patient of Dr. Pat and Dr. Mia in 1999 where she suffered from many symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The relief Tracey received from her care gave her a passion to help others.
Tracey has a great knowledge of health insurance, and is the liaison between our patients and the insurance companies. Her goal is to take the stress out of the finances so the patient can focus on getting better and not stressing about the money.
In her personal life, Tracey is a wife and mother of 5 awesome kids. She adores babies and in the office we call her the “baby magnet” – all babies love to go to Tracey.
Marissa Salhany: Rehab and Patient Flow Coordinator, LipoLaser
Kennedy Health & Wellness offers a wide array of services to restore normal nervous system function that extend way beyond most health care facilities in our area. As an experienced Health Care Assistant, Marissa oversees and assists with a number of these procedures.
By keeping up with, and staying ahead of, the latest advances in active postural therapy protocols, Marissa implements rehabilitative exercises to increase range of motion, improve balance and coordination, strengthen, and stabilize the core muscle groups as prescribed by the doctors. Marissa can also be found overseeing the Spinal Decompression and BrainTap departments while also keeping track of patient flow for the entire office. Multitasking is one of her strong suits.
Marissa supports our patients with accountability and much-needed motivation when the journey toward healthy living gets real and, at times, challenging.
Outside of the office Marissa enjoys hiking along the Blue Ridge with her husband and her dog. Her favorite hobby is creating healthier, whole-food alternatives.
Katrina (Katie) Martin: Patient Educator, Essential Oils, and Nutrition Specialist
Having earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Health & Wellness from Liberty University in 2017, Katie joined the practice in August 2017 as our Patient Educator.
Katie performs our new patient exams, metabolic exhaustion evaluations, posture assessments, foot scans, heart rate variability, and brain wave analysis exams. In addition, Katie also consults with our patients during their report of findings and report of progress to determine the best healthcare options to achieve their individualized heath goals. She strives to really listen and understand her patients and to be an effective guide along each of their healthcare journeys.
Outside of the clinic Katie enjoys spending quality time with her husband and Golden Retriever, Aspen. They love to hike, camp, and work on renovation projects.

As a matter of fact, Maggie would say that interacting with people energizes her! Being a graduate of Roanoke College with a degree in Business Administration, Maggie is equipped to use her education partnered with her passion for hospitality to help each patient. One thing is certain, she is a sure bet to laugh at your jokes.

I have worked in the medical field for over 20 years gaining clinical and administrative experience. From 1999 to 2012 I worked for a local Internal Medicine Practice as Front Office Supervisor, Clinical Assistant and in the insurance and billing department. In 2012 I stepped away from the medical field to work in ministry with at-risk-youth and their families. This gave me the opportunity to help and care for the community in a different and more direct way.
I have been a patient since 2009 and over the years I have gotten to know and love all of the Kennedy Health and Wellness family. In 2016 I began working part time assisting with insurance and billing. In February of this year, God provided the opportunity for a full-time position at the clinic.
Outside the clinic, I love spending time with my husband, kids and friends. I also enjoy serving and singing on the praise team at First Wesleyan Church, volunteering in the community and spending time at the beach.
I started working at Kennedy Health and Wellness in January 2018. My job includes front desk, assisting with decompression, lipolaser, braintap, and patient flow. It is my goal to be helpful in every way possible.
I have been a certified nursing assistant since 2014. I am CPR and first aid certified. I am also a certified medical office assistant.
In my free time I cherish every moment I get to spend with my family, and spending time in nature appreciating God’s creations. I have two dogs, a husky named Bentley, and a lab named Winston, who are like my children.
